Clarithromycin gel belongs to the class of medicines, known as macrolide antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth by inhibit protein synthesis in bacteria by binding to subunit 50S of the bacterial ribosome. Clarithromycin is used to treat bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, cellulitis and acne which occur on face, chest, or back as spots or pimples.
