Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) which reduces stomach acid. Lansoprazole is used to treat peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome. Its effectiveness is similar to that of other PPIs.
